Asbestos Refurbishment & Demolition Surveys
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 dictate that prior to demolition or refurbishment works, an invasive survey of a building must be carried out to determine the exact nature and extent of any asbestos-containing materials.
Therefore, all persons responsible for the works will need to ensure the following:
- Take reasonable steps to determine the location and nature of any asbestos-containing materials present
- Keep and maintain an up to date register of the location, condition, maintenance and removal of all asbestos-containing materials on site
- Manage all aspects of asbestos-containing materials which are to remain in place
- Inform anyone – who is likely to disturb or come into contact with such material – about its location and condition
In addition, we offer advanced endoscope surveys of structures where it is important to minimise damage to the fabric of the building i.e. listed buildings etc. By using the latest fibre optic endoscope, we can reduce disruption and damage on site but still deliver accurate visibility to the client.
The first act of a responsible property owner or occupier should therefore be to commission the preparation of a detailed asbestos survey that records the location, extent, type, accessibility and surface treatment of all confirmed or suspected asbestos materials.
This type of survey requires specialist, experienced and competent staff with the knowledge to conduct the appropriate survey. Here MDS Environmental Services is able to use its vast experience and analytical knowledge via its directly employed staff.
